Literature Kits
The Bridgewalk Collection

The Bridgewalk Collection is located in the Children's Department of the Nevins Memorial Library. This resource center contains a variety of books that focus on:  parenting/child development, reading/ literacy, educator materials for the classroom, and activities to use at home or in a classroom. Brochures about child oriented community services and themed literature kits are also available. The collection is a collaborative project involving the Nevins Memorial Library and the Methuen Community Partnerships for Children Program (MCPC), an early education care and care program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

Additional literacy kits were added to the Bridgewalk Collection as part of the CARE's grant which was funded by the ELOA (Early Learning Opportunities Act) through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Adult, Children, and Youth Services. These kits are easy to find because they are housed in black backpacks.

This material is very useful for parents, teachers, homeschoolers and students enrolled in early childhood education coursework. Anyone with a library card in the
Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) can borrow these materials. Books and literature kits circulate for 3 weeks. Parenting /child development books, literature kits and informational community service brochures are located in the preschool area of the Childrens Department. Books pertaining to reading/ literacy, educator materials for the classroom, activities to use at home or in a classroom are located on the back wall by the Children's Reference Materials.
