Library Cards:
Obtaining a Library Card - Massachusetts Residents
A library card is available at no charge if you reside in Methuen. Proper identification is required (drivers license, current mail displaying your Methuen address). Patrons living in other Massachusetts towns need to get a card at their hometown library. They will be able to use the Nevins Memorial Library with their hometown library card. Adult cards are available to anyone over the age of 13. Children are invited to obtain cards from the Children's Department. A parent or legal guardian will need to sign for the child and provide proof of residence. All cards may be used in all areas, regardless of the patron's age. Replacement cards $2.00.
Obtaining a Library Card - Out of State Residents
Out of state residents who are teachers in the Methuen school system, town employees who live out of state and out of state property and business owners who pay taxes in Methuen can obtain a free library card for use at the Nevins Memorial Library only. Other out of state patrons must pay an annual consortium fee for an individual MVLC library card. Proper identification and verification is required. Museum passes are available to Methuen residents only, but all other borrowing privledges are provided, including Inter-Library Loans.

You can renew your library materials in person, by telephone at (978) 686-4080, extension 16, or using our online catalog. To renew using the online catalog, you will need to enter your library card number and your pin. If you do not know your pin number, call the Circulation Desk at extension 16.

Returns & Renewals:
Returns During regular Library hours the book drop is open or you may return your materials to the Main Desk.
When the Library is closed (Sundays, evenings, holidays, inclement weather, moving) the book drop will be open for your convenience.
Please note that some materials cannot be placed in the book drop-videos. This stipulation will be noted on the material you have borrowed.
Renewals
If you wish to keep materials beyond their due dates, the items must be renewed by phone, in person or via the online catalog. In order to renew materials on the web, you must have your library card and pin number. Please call the library at extension 16 for assistance. If the particular item that you wish to renew is not on reserve for another patron, it will be checked out to you for an additional period.
If you have borrowed a material via the Interlibrary Loan process, you must honor the date of their requested return. Inter Library Loan material may be renewed only once, if they have come from another library in the Merrimack ValleyLibrary Consortium. They may not be renewed, if they have been borrowed another Network or via OCLC. If you have any questions regarding the renew options of a material, please check with the Circulation Staff.

Reserves:
Reserving Library Materials:
Reserves can be placed on books, magazines, videos, DVDs, museum passes, and audio tapes and CDs, and music CDs. Reserves can be made by phone or in person at the Main Desk. You will be notified when your reserve item (including Inter-Library Loan materials) when your reserve becomes available for you.
You are now able to place your request from any computer, not just those in the library. To do so, you will need your library card and your pin number. If you need assistance, please call the library at 978-686-4080, extension 16.

Homebound Services:
The Nevins Library's Outreach Program is for the disabled, the elderly and those who are incapacitated due to injury or illness. Temporary service is also available during times of recuperation.
Books and media are delivered to your home, free of charge, by volunteers from the library and library community.
