Library Aide, Part Time (Circulation/Reference)

The Nevins Library, located in Methuen, MA, is seeking an energetic, flexible, and organized Library Aide to provide outstanding customer service to its patrons.

This position will have hours in both the Circulation Department (Main Desk) and in the Reference Department where the successful candidate will be responsible for checking materials in and out, handling patron inquiries and issues in person and over the phone, processing library cards and helping patrons print or make copies and find books on the shelves. Additional tasks might include placing holds, shelving, shelf reading, and checking condition of materials. This part-time position is 8-16 hours a week, with two evenings until 9pm, and scheduled Saturdays.

Qualifications:
• Able to work with a diverse population, while respecting people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Ability to communicate in any language in addition to English is a plus.
• Committed to a high level of accuracy, and the ability to prioritize tasks in an active environment.
• Strong teamwork, flexibility in scheduling, and ability to work independently.
• 1-3 years’ experience in a customer service related field required.

Hours: 12 hours per week

Minimum Education: none

Salary: $18.00 per hour
